wow. i just want to congratulate all the seniors for finally completing their high school career. you are done. you are done. you are done! you are now done with the ‘high school’ part of your life’s milestone. haha y’all are now going to be freshman again at another institution. great. we’ve got enough little fishies.
you guys seriously pulled through thick and thin to get to the point of where y’all are at now. i’ve seen you grow from being timid and unadventurous to being so filled with the love of God that allowed all of you to be great indispensable leaders for our youth group.
now here goes my recap. sorry this is going to be long. if you want, y’all can just go to your name and stop reading. HAH~
savior kim - wow. we’ve seriously known each other for our whole lives. i’ve always known that you were going to be such a strong, out-going person who possessed such great leadership capabilities. i am sad that you are finally out and leaving plano. im still mad that you chose UT over SMU, but whatever. i guess God has your life mapped out and SMU wasn’t in your life’s blueprint. and i am definitely scarred for life, literally. i will never forget that day you scratched me in sonya’s pool and left a deep scar that is still on my body today. but i paid you back yesterday night at saemi’s house by slapping your back NOT SO very hard. you are the epitome of success. you are going to be president one day. note to everyone else - dont be surprised when savior decides to run for president of united states. i think you would be a really great president.
saemi choi - i always thought you were this tall, clumsy, pretty korean girl that every boy was attracted to; similar to how mosquitoes are attracted to light. but you are the nicest & funniest person i’ve met. we’ve might have not known each other for that long, but i feel like i’ve known you for quite some time now. i think we’ve gotten to know each other really well this year, especially, but as with any friendship, time is the only way to achieve closeness. i didnt know you were artistically talented until i found out through facebook (of course) pictures of your art. i know God has placed that passion and skill in your heart for a reason. and you’ll go on to paint God’s heart and His passion for His people. have fun at art school! unleash yourself. oh and your welcome, i did the dishes for you at your house because you were to freaking lazy. :]
hannah shin - oh. i dont even know where to begin with you too… i know i said this at the banquet, but i will say it again. remember long time ago, when everyone use to pair both of us up at KFBC’s christmas musicals. (ex: i was joseph and you were mary and we carried our plastic baby doll down the aisle. hahahha mann. you were so such a punk back then and you hated me for that.. honestly, i enjoyed the attention. HEHE. God has changed you so much and you grew into the young woman God has created you to be. God has exciting plans for you in the future like YWAM? who would’ve known you’d be going to the top missions school in this world? you are an awesome and LOUD person. and God is going to train and equip you to BREAK down those tough & rugged walls with your love for Him and your boldness to speak LOUD Truth to everyone you meet. conquer the world!
alex kim - i still remember when i first met you at newsong. no homo, but we exchanged numbers and we texted all night and all day, exchanging tips on how to speak korean correctly with tips on how to work out. hahahaha and yet i would be sitting on my couch eating haagen-dazs coffee ice cream getting fat. man we’ve gotten real close over the past 1.5 years that i’ve known you. i will never forget the endless conversations about the mysteries of life we always had every night. you’ve changed from an awkward buff boy into an out-going, heart warming, non-awkward buff man. God is going to use you bro, just keep it up! always stay true to yourself and to God. love you bro.
andrew moon - wow. i love you mann. there’s just too many things i want to say but not that much space in this little tumblr post.i don’t actually remember when or how we met but that doesnt really matter much. i just remember we got really close one week and we never stopped chattin’ since. i can just see how God has filled you up with His love that it almost (actually, really) overflows outwardly through you. God has had His hand upon your whole life and He will never let go. don’t ever forget our gay prom poses that we would do in our pictures together. and you slap hard….i will get you back someday. beware.
derek yu - muscle dude. mr. buff guy number 2. not necessarily ranked number 2. i wish you had a tumblr. you are one seriously funny person. you always talk about your muscles and working out, but i know you’re not being narcissistic. God has changed you immensely too over recent events in your life. (ex: remember your bet with alex at the brookhaven winter retreat 2009. and how you would pay him certain number of dollars if you got knocked out by the Holy Spirit & vice versa?) that just proves to you that God is also a humorous God. i just sense that you have the heart of a father in you. and that you will be a father to those who never felt the love from the Father in Heaven OR to those who never had a biological father. continue to pursue Him as He is always pursuing you. oh and thanks for making me ramyun at saemi’s house last night! haha you are so good at making it taste good.
josh yo - i dont think we’ve ever TALKED until last night at saemi’s house. i kinda had an idea of who you were before through formspring and facebook and tumblr. i dont stalk that much. okay. thats a lie. i do it all the time. hahaha but i can see that God has changed you too since your first day at newsong and He still is changing you. God will reveal more of His love & fullness everyday. although i haven’t known you for that long either, i feel like we will be running that race together. just know that if you ever need someone to talk to about anything, i’m here for you bro. and although i may be small in stature, i really do care for all my younger brothers and sisters. oh, btw, like i said earlier, you have a way with your words, sir. continue to dwell in His resting place.
stephen min - ah, i’ve known you all my life as well. we go way back man. i dont think we’ve gotten close until 2 years after we all moved into newsong. man you were such a punk too long time ago. you’ve change so much also~ i remember i didnt want to associate myself with you and your bball friends at KFBC long time ago, but that soon changed when God miraculously changed us all. you’re so warm-hearted and you truly do care for the well-being of your friends and family. i respect you for that. keep me updated on your latest endeavors on tumblr and oovoo.
sam jin - now everytime i see your name, i think of drum major. wow. you seriously changed ALOTTT. i remember the shy you, who reluctantly came to church and always sat at the back not knowing what to do or how to confront people. but NOW, you are always meeting/greeting people and taking the initiative to see the fullness of God’s love being presented in our lives. we will never fall apart but we will always grow together. continue to access His love. just reach out and grab it.
terra chang - oh terra terra. God has placed such an abundance of His joy and love upon your life. first off, i want to apologize for not getting to know you well enough. :/ i will miss seeing you every sunday though. you are, most of the times, always smiling and laughing every time i see you. i hope and i know that whatever dreams you have will be given unto you. God always makes the impossible POSSIBLE. He loves you so much and you are His princess. don’t try to grow up too fast. :] enjoy everything while you can! you are very special to all of us at newsong and especially to God.
daniel oh - omy. where to even begin with you. i think i really got to know after i joined praise team. i remember the quiet, yet dorky, chubby daniel long time ago at KFBC. now your all about working out and playing the viola. which brings me to my second point. you are super musically talented and you know it, yet you are not prideful nor boastful about it. i respect you for that. because i have pride issues and sometimes i ask myself, “why cant i be more like daniel?” im so glad that you are coming to smu next year, rooming in the same dorm hall with me, and glad that we will be experiencing life together, yet again. i know we will be having midnight jam sessions with esther oh and sam gong at smu. :] i know you love me.
-well thats it for the tribute to the seniors, class of 2010. congratulations, really. this took too long. i think this will be the longest post i’ve written on any blogger type website. wow. thats how much i love you guys.
buy this album. Glee has done a great job at introducing songs the young people of today might not know. and of course i’m a big fan of this show, too. Lea Michele is definitely one of my broadway favorites.
“The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature.”—Anne Frank
man, after taking several pictures since last semester, i’ve learned several things.
being a photographer requires extreme amounts of patience, a really creative eye, and the desire to endure Mother Nature’s extremities.
patience - i know it’s going to take me more than one shot to achieve the perfect picture. it takes practice and several test shots. i know too many people who have a dslr camera (or point&shoot) who just shoot away without looking around at their surroundings, without making sure the lighting is perfect, and without focusing on their composition (what the picture is made of - ie. what’s in it, the background, the foreground..etc). i think it’s important to allow yourself to build the basic foundations of taking a picture before you go ahead and start shooting away. just be patient. you’ll get there. as with anything you are doing, practice.
a really creative eye - one thing i ask myself before taking a picture is, “how am i going to make this picture different from all the other pictures i’ve taken and seen?” and “how am i going to make this picture pop?!” the old saying tells us that ‘necessity is the mother of invention.’ likewise, creativity is all about finding clever and ingenious solutions to problems faced by all photographers, designers, architects, musicians, and etc. i say, restrict yourself to a few people, places, or objects, and play around with the angle of which you are shooting, lighting.. etc.
enduring mother nature - most of you know that i have really sensitive skin and i have a condition called photosensitivity. I burn particularly easily or develop exaggerated skin reactions to sunlight. People with photosensitivity have an immunological response to light — most often sunlight. They can break out in a rash when exposed to sunlight. (but you cant tell, because i always try to edit the rash out in pictures hehehe) when taking pictures, i endure because i want my pictures to look great. oh, the things i do to achieve what i want. but besides the sun, i have endured rain, hills, rocky terrain, soggy mud, very humid & thick air. in the end, it’s so worth it.
“I could live for the broken and share in their pain.
I could die like a martyr or live like a saint just to love You.
I could sing like the angels and gather Your praise:
Be blessed beyond measure and give it away just to love You.
Still nothing compares to what You’ve done for me.”—Prodigal by Michael Gungor
